In 2006, only 1,114 tigers roamed India’s forests. In 2010, that number officially rose to 1,706. Come 2014, a new census will start. Will there be a reason to rejoice? Or will deforestation and poaching have cast their ugly shadow over the big cats’ population once again?

Hopefully the number will keep increasing!!
Hi Lauren, yes that I hope too. It would be sad to see another decline. India is the only country, where one actually can see those beautiful cats in the wild.
