While climbing for the plains to the higher areas in Kerala, one is most likely to drive trough tea gardens that spread like carpets over the rolling hills. This picture was taken on the way to Periyar. The region between Munnar and Periyar is the 3rd biggest tea growing area in India, after Assam and the world famous gardens of Darjeeling. Nilgiri tea has a very “earthy” flavour and is generally consumed with a spot of milk, as the British would say.
